Line 35 of the record

Truck Accident Law Firms in Macon, Georgia

4 min read

A commercial truck claim can turn on records the carrier controls, and the first section below sets out what to establish early. Five Macon law firms that publish truck accident pages follow, alphabetically, with each firm’s Macon office, phone number, and a summary of what its own page addresses, as published in October 2026. The list does not rank the firms.

What a truck claim needs early

  1. Which carrier operated the truck. The name and USDOT number on the cab door, and any “operated by” line, identify it; see a trucking company’s USDOT number and MCS-90 endorsement.
  2. Notice to preserve the records. Federal rules require electronic logs to be kept for at least six months, which can run out before a claim is filed, and camera video has no federal retention period; see the evidence to secure after a commercial truck crash.
  3. Who else may answer. The carrier’s own hiring and supervision, and a broker’s choice of carrier, can be separate claims; see negligent hiring and entrustment claims against a trucking company.
  4. Whether the insurer can be named. For causes of action accruing on or after July 1, 2024, Georgia allows joining the carrier’s insurer only in narrow situations; see Georgia’s direct action statute after Senate Bill 426.

What to ask a firm about the carrier and its records

  1. How will it identify the operating carrier, any broker, and the trailer’s owner, and when will it send preservation requests for the logs, camera video, and engine data?
  2. Who will review the driver’s hours-of-service records and qualification file under the federal rules in 49 C.F.R. Parts 391 and 395?
  3. How will it decide whether the carrier’s insurer can be named in the suit under the rule for claims accruing on or after July 1, 2024?
  4. Which lawyers would work on the case, and what truck cases with several defendants have they handled?

Records to keep from the truck crash

  1. Photographs of the truck’s markings, trailer, and plates.
  2. The police report number and any citation issued to the truck driver.
  3. Names of witnesses, and whether any business nearby has cameras.
  4. Any contact from the trucking company or its insurer, unanswered.
